Short summary A consortium co-ordinated by a German University hospital wants to develop and investigate the benefits of a novel holistic digital health platform allowing early recognition, precise diagnosis, prevention and management of mental disorders, enhancing overall health and mental well-being in a scalable, reusable and cost-efficient way. The proposal will be submitted under HORIZON-JU-IHI-2022-03-05 and the consortium looks for a tech-industry partner supporting a mobile application.

Full description Background: People with mental illness are at high risk for a chronic course if early symptoms remain unrecognised and people are not or inadequately treated or additional physical conditions are present. Despite the high prevalence of mental illness, barriers for seeking help and reaching out to professional health institutions are high and go along with limited treatment capacities and long waiting lists. Therefore, a German University Hospital will develop and evaluate a first-of-its-kind holistic, personalised, preventive digital health platform (DHP) under the call: HORIZON-JU-IHI-2022-03-05 - Digital health technologies for the prevention and personalised management of mental disorders and their long-term health consequences The new platform: - allows an ever-earlier precise diagnosis, prediction of the onset and course of mental disorders smartly integrating active and passive assessment of digital biomarkers, - provides novel individualised early digital behavioural interventions prior to onset or in the course of a mental illness and in recognition of potential comorbid physical conditions, - provides constant and ongoing monitoring and concrete digital or regional treatment recommendations for users, their care providers as well as peers and family members based on current treatment guidelines for mental disorders and comorbid physical conditions to ptimize treatment paths and continuity of care across the lifespan. In addition, the DHP will provide an app-based intervention with personalised content for mental disorders and modules on comorbidities. To meet the needs, to increase feasibility, adherence and satisfaction of the target group in the long-term, the DHP will be developed and evaluated closely together with individuals lived experience of a mental disorder. To foster implementation and exploitation of the DHP, cost-effectiveness analyses will be conducted and stakeholder including NGO’s and health professionals, insurance companies and policy makers will contribute and/or advise the project-members in all study periods. In order to complete the consortium the hospital is looking for a partner from the tech-industry who is willing to - provide, host and support a mobile application platform that inherits the psychological intervention and AI-functionality (via plugin, the coding is done by the hospital. - invest 45% of the required own share . Ideally, the partner has expertise in IT solutions, data analytics and business development, to foster long-term implementation and exploitation activities. In this regard, the further development, approval of the developed final digital health product and distribution are intended goals. Experience in EU-projects and research activities are beneficial. Advantages and innovations This project, first-of-its-kind, investigates the long-term benefits of a novel holistic self-monitoring digital health platform for the early recognition and precise diagnosis, prevention and management of mental disorders, enhancing overall health and mental well-being in a scalable, reusable and cost-efficient way. By focusing on the needs of the target group with mental illness and other comorbidities across different age groups and cultures, long-term adherence and satisfaction with the DHP will be ensured. In case of success, the health care system across Europe will be relieved due to the increased self-empowered disease management, the precise diagnosis and efficient guidance into the adequate services
