On-demand expert services for development and improvement of chemical analysis quality control methods based on liquid chromatography

Stato: Idea
Data di creazione: 22-09-2021

Obbiettivi del progetto:

A Swedish SME specialized in high performance liquid chromatography analyses offers on-demand expert subcontract and consultancy services for development and improvement of liquid chromatographic methods in chemical analyses of polar hydrophilic compounds for quality control. Commercial agreement with technical assistance with companies in the beverages, food, pharma and electronic industry or research agreement with organisations that have ongoing R&D-projects are foreseen.

Future proof quality control of beverages, functional food, pharmaceuticals, battery electrolytes, and other products can be made by taking advantage of the SME’s knowledge in strategies such as quality by design, design of experiments, multivariate data evaluation, and their awareness of recent developments in industry standards and regulatory demands. Research and development driven companies can reduce the lead time in R&D- projects and get more reliable quality control methods by benefiting from the SME’s expertise in liquid chromatography analysis of inorganic ions, organic acids, zwitterions, amino acids, peptides, carbohydrates, and similar polar hydrophilic compounds of natural or synthetic origin as analytes, matrix components and contaminants in a wide variety of sample types.
The SME has a service minded team of analytical chemists having decades of international experience and skills in quality by design approaches. They are available as an on-demand subcontractor resource for development, optimisation, and validation of (U)HPLC (ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography) quality control methods. Analytical method development can be performed using the SME’s competent laboratory instrumentation equipped with a wide variety of detection techniques and many column brands on site in customer’s laboratories. Rational selection of stationary phases for every analysis problem is secured by the SME’s peer reviewed published research and internal protocols to assess selectivity features and limitations of any brand HPLC column, specializing in modes such as ion chromatography (IC) and hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC).

The Swedish SME’s consultancy model including troubleshooting and improving existing problematic liquid chromatography procedures while simultaneously educating their clients laboratory staff are highly valued among existing clients. By using this service model combining analysis and education the clients will get guidance to new solutions and reach insights to root causes of analysis problems. This will be made by in-depth discussions of their experimental results via scheduled online communication with the experienced team provided by the SME’s. The educational part of the model will increase the clients chances to further implement and successfully use any liquid chromatography procedures after the end of the assignment.

The SME’s laboratory may also be able to perform certain chemical analyses of customer samples, for the purpose of quantitative assessment of analyte concentrations or for qualitative research, including molecular structure elucidation or identification.

The SME could either be a subcontractor in a research program, such as Horizon Europe, through a research agreement or supporting companies via a commercial agreement that strengthen their internal R&D and quality assurance work.

Advantages & innovations

Partner sought

Companies in the pharmaceuticals, beverages, or electronics industry, government bodies or contract research laboratories. The partners are expected to define the assignment together with the SME, and in this process share relevant information such as chemical structures of analytes and matrix components, expected concentration ranges, and results from any previous experiments. A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) can be signed upon request.
