The EU’s ageing population and a rising burden of diseases and disorders, in particular noncommunicable diseases (such as cardiometabolic diseases, cancers, neurodegenerative or musculoskeletal disorders), have resulted in increasing health care costs and limited procedural capacity in operating rooms and cath labs (catheterisation laboratory).
