Short summary The proposed new storage system is cheaper and secures a higher selective temperature supply. Proposers know-how is in the electronic and software of the sensors and control unit which handles all energy supplies from different sources (like wind, sun, wood, etc.) and also the energy demands on the other side. A smart filling and draining of each single cube is the basis of highest efficiency of the storage system and best possible integration into the district heating

Full description The requestor is located in Schrobenhausen, Bavaria, Germany. Requested is a development partner who is able to develop the water-storage completely from the sketch to serial production. Also able to build a first prototype system with i.e. 30 cubic meters water-storage. Offer will be an attractive manufacturing and sales license. Patent pending for selected European countries. The big advantage for the user is a water-storage for heating or cooling systems for much cheaper price as common storage systems. Furthermore a selective loading and de-loading of the single storages is possible. This secures stable temperature levels in the storage system, no mixture of different water temperatures can occur. Thus, quick loading and de-loading is possible. By selective usage of each cubic meter the cooled water can be used for a higher temperature spreading for the application --> higher efficiency Targeted partners would be all companies with skills in mechanical engineering, and/or heating systems, and/or cooling systems. In parallel Universities or institutes with skills in chemistry and plastic are targeted for partner cooperation for the development phase. (ZIM Project) The partner will get the idea and licenses for a new product which he can integrate into his portfolio. Also possible is a component supplier for a third company (sales company).

Advantages and innovations A common water storage has to withstand the hydrostatic pressure of the water. The invention is to get rid of the hydrostatic pressure by dividing the storage in many small 1 cubic meter storages. 1 meter has 100 mbar pressure only at the bottom. This minor pressure can be withstand by plastic big-bags. Easy to transport the system to the place of project. Easy to build up the water-storages and easy to control the system by dashboard and electronic control unit. This makes it convenient for the system manager of the heating/cooling to integrate the water-storage. Prevailing water-storages are more expensive and have bigger problems of temperature level mixture inside of the storage. This can be avoided by the new invention. The first and main innovation is the usage of cheap materials for the storage of water. This reduces the costs for 1 m3 from 500 € to less than 150 €. Beside this main advantage achieved by the construction of the cubes there are several additional benefits by using single cubes: + each cube can be defined by its own temperature level. i.e. 10 cubes out of 100 have high temperature with 85° for industrial demands. 60 cubes with average temperature (30 – 60°) for heating. 30 cubes with low temperature (2 – 25°) for cooling applications. + renewable energies need often to be used very quick when they are available. Wind is blowing, but demand of current is low > cheap current can be used for heating water in the cubes. Or if the sun is shining at a sunny winter day, the solar-thermal collector can exchange the tempered water in the cube with the most suitable temperature level. This secures best efficiency of the whole storage system. + The storable energy of one cube is round about 60 kWh. 1 kWh can be sold for round about 11 Cent. >> 60kWh x 11Cent/kWh = 6,60 € per load and de-load. That means the storage gains more money the more often it gets loaded and de-loaded during lifetime.
