Obbiettivi del progetto:

Short summary A German SME has developed specialzed know-how in the area of e-Mobility, specifically in the fields of battery cells, battery systems, and motors. Commercial companies, universities, research institutes, and other cooperation partners are sought throughout Europe, either for the development of new battery/e-mobility technologies or the industrialisation and upscaling of existing products.

Full description E-mobility is one of the key topics contributing towards the EU's green deal and a more sustainable future. With a multitude of new developments and an ever-changing technological landscape, e-mobility is becoming a specialised field in itself. The German SME is a spin-out of the department "Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components" from RWTH Aachen. Since its incorporation in 2014, the company has grown to over 60 employees. Among its 400 customers in the mobility sector, the German SME works with both start-ups, and also large companies such as TÜV Rheinland Automotive. The company retains an active and close relationship with the University, allowing it to be active in both research-level and commercial projects. The SME also counts on partnerships with leading R&D instutes such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Battery Cell Production, FFB. The German SME is specialised in three main themes of e-Mobility: Battery Cells: The SME offers expertise in many different battery cell technologies, in particular in cell teardown, including mechanical, chemical, and electrochemical benchmarking. The SME supports both process engineering and ramp-up topics, as well as projects focusing on the development of new cell technologies. Battery Systems: The SME offers know-how on battery system design, ranging from battery pack and module development, to system simulation and prototyping. The SME can contribute along the whole battery lifecycle on topics including battery safety, recyclability, and remanufacturing. E-motors: The SME provides support on on the development and testing of motor subcomponents and systems, including prototyping capabilities for stators and rotors. Support is also available for benchmarking, production planning, and manufacturing ramp-up of e-motor technologies.

Advantages and innovations
  • > 10 years experience and technology development in e-mobility.
  • A strong network in research, manufacturing, and with other RWTH Aachen spin-offs
  • Presence in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, to support access to international technnologies and facilities.
