Obbiettivi del progetto:

Short summary A German SME is working in the field of microfluidic Lab-on-a-Chip systems for point-of-need applications like in-vitro diagnostics (veterinary and human) and food analyses. The company wishes to extend its product and application portfolio and looks for partners, who have developed assays and want to transfer them into a Lab-on-a-Chip environment in the frame of, e.g., for commercial agreements with technical assistance, technical collaboration agreements or research cooperation agreements.

Full description Many diagnostic or analytical assays have been developed for laboratory use only, requiring pipetting steps and theusage of complex analytical instruments. For many applications, however, there is a need and a trend to make such analyses available at the point-of-need The German SME has developed a platform for microfluidic Lab-on-a-Chip systems for point-of-need applications and is now trying to extend its product and application portfolio. The cartridge technology hereby allows a liquid movement inside such a cartridge to perform the assay, thus not requiring any external pumping or pipetting steps. Besides such integrated pumping, the cartridges may also include the ability for integrated heating (e.g. for hybridization, lysis or amplification). The company is looking for partners which have developed diagnostic or analytical assays and want them to be transferredinto a Lab-on-a-Chip environment. The partners ideally are dealing with assay development and wish to transfer and test their assays in aself-contained miniaturized microfluidic environment. The partners should be interested in either a commercialagreement with technical assistance, a technical collaboration agreement or a reasearch cooperation agreement, depending on the industrial or research type of the partner and its capability to get involved into the transfer process. For the assay-offering partner the company makes available standard evaluation platforms for a quick transfer ofassays into a miniaturized, self-contained format. This includes the pure microfluidic cartridges, but also the requiredelectronics and software solutions to run the cartridges, as well as accessories such as micro-structured adhesive tapesand various polymer and glass slides.

Technical Specification or Expertise Sought The partner should have expertise in assay development and a portfolio of own assays he wants to transfer to a miniaturized system. The application scenarios of interest include not only human and veterinary diagnostics, but also food safety, environmental analyses, and pure R&D settings.
